Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on web design, e-commerce, hosting, SEO, and digital marketing for South African businesses. No jargon, no runaround.

Getting Started

What are the first steps to getting a website with SynthX?
It starts with a free audit or a quick discovery chat. We learn your business, your goals, and who you are trying to reach, then send a fixed quote and a simple brief of what we need from you. Once the deposit is in, we book your build slot and get moving.
What do you need from us to get started?
Your logo and brand assets if you have them, any existing copy or images, access to your domain and hosting, and a clear sense of what a win looks like for your business. No brand assets or copy yet? We can handle that too.
How long does a website take to build?
Most sites go live within 2 to 4 weeks. A single-page Starter moves faster, while a 10-page Business build takes longer. The biggest variable is how quickly we get your content and sign-offs, so a prepared client always launches sooner.
What can slow a project down?
Almost always one thing: waiting on content, feedback, or approvals from your side. We keep our end moving fast. The more responsive you are at each checkpoint, the quicker you go live.
How does the quote and deposit process work?
We send a fixed quote tied to a clear scope, no vague hourly surprises. A deposit secures your build slot, with the balance due before launch. The quote itself is the scope document, so everyone knows exactly what is included.

Design & Build Process

What happens if we do not like the first design?
That is what revision rounds are for. We share the design early, you give feedback, and we refine. Starter includes 1 round, Basic 2, and Business 3. We would rather get it right than rush it live.
How many revisions are included?
Starter includes 1 round of revisions, Basic includes 2, and Business includes 3. Anything beyond your included rounds is billed at our standard out-of-scope rate, always agreed with you first, never a surprise.
What is the difference between a revision and a redesign?
A revision is a tweak within the agreed design: copy, colours, layout adjustments. A redesign is starting a direction over from scratch. Revisions are included in your package. A full redesign is a new scope.
Will we see the website before it goes live?
Always. You review your site on a private staging link and sign off before anything goes public. Nothing launches without your approval.
Is the site tested on mobile, tablet, and desktop?
Every site we build is mobile-first, because most of your traffic is on a phone. We test across mobile, tablet, and desktop so it looks sharp and loads fast on whatever screen your customer is using.

Pricing & Ownership

How much does a website cost in South Africa?
Our packages start at R2,750 for a Starter site and scale to R12,000 for a full Business build, with custom quotes for anything larger. No hidden add-ons, the price you see is the price you pay. Not sure which tier fits? Grab a free audit and we will point you to the right one.
Can I pay monthly instead of once-off?
Yes. If a once-off does not suit your cash flow, we offer monthly financing from R499 a month so you can get a professional site live now and spread the cost over time.
Who owns the website once it is built?
You do, completely. Once your build is paid up, the site and everything in it belongs to you. No lock-in, no holding your domain hostage, no monthly ransom to keep your own site online.
Are there any monthly or recurring fees?
Only if you choose them. Your build is a once-off or financed cost. Hosting, maintenance, and ongoing SEO are optional monthly services, clearly priced and never forced. You always know what is once-off and what recurs.
Are there any hidden costs?
No. Your quote spells out the full scope and price up front. The only things outside it are third-party costs you would pay anyway, like your domain name, and any extra work you request beyond the agreed scope, always quoted first.
What happens if we stop working together?
Your paid-up website is yours to keep. There is no lock-in. If you move on, you take your site with you. We would rather earn your stay than trap it.

SEO & Getting Found

Is SEO included in the website build?
Yes. Foundational SEO is baked into every build: clean structure, fast load times, mobile-first design, and proper on-page setup. Higher tiers add SEO across more pages and a dedicated location page. That gets you findable. Climbing competitive rankings is where ongoing SEO comes in.
Will my website rank on Google immediately?
No honest agency can promise instant rankings. A new site ships with strong SEO foundations, but Google takes time to trust and rank new pages. Foundational SEO gets you in the game. Ongoing SEO is what moves you up over weeks and months.
Why is my website not on page one of Google yet?
Ranking is earned over time, not switched on. New sites need Google to crawl, index, and build trust in them, and competitive keywords take sustained effort. If page one for tough terms is the goal, that is an ongoing SEO campaign, not a one-time build.
What is the difference between foundational and ongoing SEO?
Foundational SEO is the technical and on-page groundwork built into your site so it can rank. Ongoing SEO is the continuous work, content, backlinks, and optimisation, that actively climbs you up the results for the terms that bring you business.
Do you submit the site to Google?
Yes. We make sure your site is properly structured, indexable, and submitted so Google can find and crawl it from day one. That is part of the foundational SEO in every build.
Can you help with ongoing SEO or digital marketing?
Absolutely. Beyond the build, we run ongoing SEO and digital marketing to actively grow your traffic and leads. Ask us during your audit and we will show you what would move the needle for your business.

Leads & Results

Will my website generate leads immediately?
A well-built site removes the barriers to enquiries: clear calls to action, fast loading, mobile-first, and copy that speaks to your customer. But a site is a tool, not magic. Leads come from that tool plus visibility, which is where SEO and marketing amplify results.
Does a new website automatically bring traffic?
Not on its own. A new site is the foundation. Traffic comes from being found, through SEO, Google Business, content, and marketing. We build the site to convert the traffic, then help you go get it.
How can we speed up visibility after launch?
The fastest levers are a fully optimised Google Business Profile, foundational SEO done right, and targeted marketing or ads to the right audience. We can map the quickest path for your specific business and budget.
What does it take to rank for competitive keywords?
High-intent, competitive terms take sustained SEO: quality content, technical health, authority-building, and time. It is a campaign, not a checkbox. We will tell you honestly what a given keyword will realistically take.
Do you run Google Ads campaigns?
Yes, we can set up and manage Google Ads to drive immediate, targeted traffic while your organic SEO builds. Ads get you visible now, SEO makes you visible for the long haul. The two work best together.
Do you offer in-person consultations in Gauteng?
We are based in Gauteng and happy to meet where it makes sense, though most of our clients across South Africa work with us remotely, which keeps things fast and flexible. Wherever you are, you get the same senior attention.

After Launch: Support & Security

What happens after the website goes live?
We do not disappear at launch. We make sure everything is working, then you choose how you want to be supported, from optional maintenance and hosting to ongoing SEO. Your site is live, and you decide the next chapter.
Do you offer website maintenance?
Yes. We offer managed maintenance so you are never left patching plugins, fixing breakages, or chasing security updates. You run the business, we keep the site healthy.
What if I need updates or changes after launch?
Easy. Small changes can be handled on maintenance or as quick once-off jobs. Larger additions are quoted first. Either way, you are never stuck waiting or guessing at a bill.
Do you provide backups?
Yes. Sites on our hosting and maintenance are backed up regularly, so if anything ever goes wrong, we can restore quickly. Peace of mind is part of the service.
Is the website secure?
Security is built in: SSL, secure hosting, and regular updates on maintained sites. For businesses that need more, we can add extra protection layers. Your site and your customers' data are taken seriously.
Do you handle hosting?
We do. We offer managed web hosting so your site stays fast, secure, and online without you ever thinking about servers or downtime.

Growth & Functionality

Do you build e-commerce websites?
Yes. We build online stores with secure payments, product management, and everything you need to sell online. From a handful of products to a full catalogue, we scale it to your business.
Can we add features or upgrade later?
Definitely. We build on flexible foundations, so you can add pages, features, e-commerce, bookings, or integrations as you grow. Your site should grow with the business, not hold it back.
Can we update the website ourselves?
Yes. We build on user-friendly platforms and can set you up to make everyday edits yourself. Prefer to hand it off entirely? That is what maintenance is for. Your call.
Will we get training or a walkthrough?
Yes. Once your site is live, we walk you through managing it, and can provide simple guides or a walkthrough so you are never left guessing how your own site works.
Can you integrate CRMs, bookings, or payment gateways?
Yes. Our Custom builds include integrations like CRMs, booking systems, and payment gateways, so your website plugs into the tools you already run. Tell us your stack and we will make it work together.
Can you build custom web applications or advanced functionality?
Yes. Beyond standard websites, we take on custom functionality and web applications where a business needs something bespoke. If you can describe the problem, we can scope a solution.
