Self-Help Guide

Set up your email on Android

A quick walkthrough to get your SynthX Media email working on any Android phone or tablet. It takes about five minutes. Have your email address and password ready.

Before you start

Wherever you see mail.yourdomain.co.za below, swap in your own domain. For example, if your email is [email protected], your server becomes mail.acme.co.za. This is the single most common thing people miss.

Step by step

These steps work across the most common Android mail apps, including Gmail, Samsung Email, and Outlook.

  1. Open your mail app and go to Settings → Add account. In Gmail, tap your profile picture, then "Add another account".
  2. Choose "Other" when asked for the account type. Avoid the Google or Microsoft branded options. Your SynthX email is a standard account.
  3. Enter your full email address and tap Next, then enter your password.
  4. Select IMAP when prompted for the account type. IMAP keeps your mail synced across your phone and computer. Recommended for most people.
  5. Enter the incoming server settings from the card below, then tap Next.
  6. Enter the outgoing server settings from the card below, then tap Next.
  7. Confirm and finish. Your app will verify the connection and start syncing. You're done.

Your mail server settings

Tap Copy on any value to grab it without typos.

Port 993 SSL / TLS

Using a different setup? Some apps ask for older options. Incoming also accepts port 110 (POP3, no SSL) and outgoing accepts port 587 (no SSL). Where possible, stick with the secure ports above.
